Approaches for AI without Python

November 8 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

AI without Python

This week we are going to cover approaches to AI that do not use Python. Alex Cole had been working with other languages such as Rust and Java to see what frameworks and approaches are available. He will present a hands-on walkthrough of examples for machine learning to show how easy (or not) these approaches can be used. There are places where Python is either not optimal or not allowed by other constraints, so this is an important aspect in our community.

We have recently covered llama.cpp which is a direct conversion of the Llama architecture to C++. It was extremely useful as a stand-alone application, but I would not considered it to be a framework that can be extended for other purposes. This may change in the future the model storage and loading approach created by llama.cpp has gained adoption.

Last Week:
Josh Phillips gave a great presentation on Mixture of Experts from GPT-4. We were able to record that session on Zoom, and you can find it here.
