Virtual Paper Review – Agentic Memory for Autonomous Debugging

August 13 @ 6:00 pm7:30 pm

Join us virtually this Wednesday at 6 pm to continue our monthly Paper Review series! We will examine SWE-Exp, a study that equips code-repair agents with an “experience bank”, a persistent memory that turns isolated fixes into reusable knowledge.

As usual we will split up the review into two segments. In the first half we will cover foundations for understanding the paper content and in the second we will cover the paper content in detail.

Foundations

  • Why long-horizon bug fixes outgrow any context window
  • How agent trajectories can be converted into memories
  • Storage choices for experience banks: vector DBs, pruning, and versioning

Paper walkthrough & live prototype

  • Instructor–Assistant roles and where memory is injected during MCTS search
  • Live demo: spin up a minimal SWE-Exp prototype, index two sample fixes, and watch the agent retrieve and apply them in real time
  • Open questions: memory freshness, cross-repo generalization, and maintenance workflows
